A fitted kitchen is not sold by the m². Its price depends on the number of units, the worktop and the appliances, then on fitting and connections. Belgian price guides put a complete kitchen between €5,000 and over €25,000, depending on the range. Here is how those amounts break down, what pushes them up, and where 6% VAT stops.
Prices published in 2026
| Complete kitchen, fitting included | Range |
|---|---|
| Entry level | €5,000 to €8,000 |
| Mid-range | €8,000 to €20,000 |
| High end, made to measure | €15,000 to €35,000 and more |
| Partial renovation (doors, worktop, sink) | €350 to €7,000 |
| Item | Range |
|---|---|
| Fitting by a kitchen fitter | €500 to €3,500 |
| Worktop, per linear metre | €250 to €650 |
Bobex (2026) publishes €5,000 to €8,000 for an entry-level kitchen, €8,000 to €15,000 for mid-range and €15,000 to €25,000 and more for high end. Homedeal (March 2026) starts a budget kitchen at around €7,500, puts mid-range at €12,000 to €20,000 and luxury at €20,000 to €35,000 and more. Solvari (September 2026) counts €10,000 to €25,000 for a complete new kitchen and €350 to €3,000 for a small renovation, excluding VAT, fitting included; Bobex prices a partial renovation at €3,000 to €7,000. Bobex and Homedeal do not say whether VAT is included.
For fitting, Homedeal quotes €800 to €2,000 for a standard installation and €1,500 to €3,500 with the appliances connected; Bobex €500 to €1,500 for a mid-range kitchen and €1,500 to €2,900 for a flat-pack kitchen. A new worktop costs €250 to €550 per linear metre at Solvari, excluding VAT, and from €300 (laminate) to €650 (ceramic or glass) per metre at Homedeal.
A public price list gives a concrete benchmark: IKEA Belgium charges €135 per cabinet and €49 per appliance for its fitting service, after a preliminary visit at €129.
What moves the price
- Size and layout. A straight kitchen a few metres long and an L-shaped kitchen with an island have neither the same number of units nor the same fitting.
- Doors and carcasses. Melamine, lacquer, solid wood: the finish changes the price of every unit.
- The worktop. From laminate to ceramic or glass, the price per metre more than doubles at Homedeal, before cut-outs.
- The appliances. Built-in oven, hob, hood, dishwasher and fridge weigh heavily in the total. Have them priced separately, with brand and model.
- The work around it. Removing the old kitchen, moving the sink or the hob, adding an electrical circuit, fitting a splashback: these items come on top, and sometimes need a plumber and an electrician.
Three worked examples
These examples are illustrative and use only the published prices above.
A flat-pack kitchen fitted by the seller. Eight cabinets and four appliances with IKEA's fitting service: €129 for the visit, €1,080 for the cabinets and €196 for the appliances, so €1,405 of fitting, furniture not included.
A mid-range kitchen at €12,000 excluding VAT, including €3,000 of appliances. If units and fitting go to 6% and the appliances stay at 21%, VAT comes to €540 plus €630, or €1,170: €13,170 including VAT. With 21% on everything, it would be €2,520 of VAT and €14,520.
Replacing only the worktop. For 3.5 m of worktop at €250 to €650 per metre: €875 to €2,275.
Our view: if the carcasses are sound, a partial renovation (doors, worktop, sink) costs a fraction of a new kitchen. Get both options priced before replacing everything.
VAT: 6% for the fitted kitchen, 21% for the appliances
The FPS Finance lists a fitted kitchen with cabinets, sink and hood at 6% when the contractor supplies and installs it in a private home more than 10 years old that stays one after the works, with the legal statement on the invoice. Replacing a faulty kitchen appliance, such as a built-in oven, stays at 21%. For the appliances of a new kitchen, Test-Achats specifies that the reduced rate covers the kitchen furniture, not the electrical appliances, even built-in ones. Units and appliances that are only delivered, without fitting, are at 21%, as is anything you buy yourself.
So ask the kitchen fitter to put the appliances on separate lines, each with its own rate. All the conditions are in our guide to 6% VAT.
What a good kitchen quote includes
- A dimensioned plan and elevations, with the list of units: sizes, drawers, hinges, accessories.
- The materials of doors, carcasses and worktop: thickness, edging, cut-outs for the sink and hob.
- Each appliance on its own line: brand, model, energy class, warranty.
- The sink, tap and hood, with the type of extraction (recirculating or ducted outside).
- Removal and disposal of the old kitchen.
- Water, drainage and electrical connections: who does them and what is included.
- Delivery and fitting dates.
- The VAT rate per line with the legal statement, the deposit and how long the offer is valid.
Mistakes to avoid
Comparing kitchens without the same appliances. A price gap sometimes comes from the appliances rather than the units. Compare model numbers, not just the total.
Accepting an invoice with the appliances at 6% too. Ask for a correction: the lines must follow the FPS Finance list.
Forgetting the electrics. An induction hob or an oven often needs a dedicated circuit. Have the fuse box checked before fitting: our guide to electrician prices gives the benchmarks.
Paying everything before fitting. Hold back part of the payment until fitting is finished and the connections have been checked.
