What to check on the quote
Two quotes only compare when they cover the same thing. These points often separate a complete offer from one that ends in extras.
The compliance inspection
A new or heavily altered installation is inspected by an approved body before it is put into use. Ask whether that inspection is planned and who pays for it.
The detail of points
Number of sockets, light points and circuits, type of consumer unit: a price per m² without that detail cannot be compared.
Flush or surface mounted
Flush wiring, with chasing and filling, costs more than surface trunking. The quote says which is planned and who does the making good.
Named materials
Cables, breakers, RCDs, sockets: a serious quote lists them item by item, with the brand or range.
The company number
The quote shows the company's CBE number. Check it on the public search of the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises before you sign.
VAT, deposit and validity
The quote states the VAT rate applied, any deposit and how long the price is guaranteed.
