03Quote

What to check on the quote

Two quotes only compare when they cover the same thing. These points often separate a complete offer from one that ends in extras.

  • Laying, supply and preparation listed separately

The laying price per m², the price of the tiles and the base preparation appear on separate lines.

  • Format and pattern

Large format, mosaic, diagonal laying: more cuts, so more hours. The quote states the format and the pattern.

  • Waterproofing in wet areas

In a shower or around a bath, waterproofing under the tiles is planned before laying.

  • Finishing details

Skirting, threshold profiles, movement joints: each finish is priced, otherwise it comes back as an extra.

  • The company number

The quote shows the company's CBE number. Check it on the public search of the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises before you sign.

  • VAT, deposit and validity

The quote states the VAT rate applied, any deposit and how long the price is guaranteed.

Tiler: what budget should you plan in 2026?

As a guide in Belgium in 2026: Hourly rate: €35 to €50/h excl. VAT; Floor tiling: €30 to €60/m². The final price depends on the job, the materials and the access: compare several written quotes.

Does the laying price include the tiles?

It depends on the quote. Some tilers price the laying only, others include a standard tile. Ask for laying, supply and preparation on separate lines.

Should you order extra tiles?
