03Quote

What to check on the quote

Two quotes only compare when they cover the same thing. These points often separate a complete offer from one that ends in extras.

  • What they subcontract

Ask which works their own teams carry out and which go to subcontractors.

  • The cost of coordination

Included in their prices or charged as a percentage of the budget: the quote says which.

  • A phased schedule

Phases, planned lengths and payments tied to progress on site rather than to dates.

  • Insurance

Ask for their insurance certificates before you sign, and check what they cover for your project.

  • The company number

The quote shows the company's CBE number. Check it on the public search of the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises before you sign.

  • VAT, deposit and validity

The quote states the VAT rate applied, any deposit and how long the price is guaranteed.
